The first official image from Game Of Thrones’ final season is here

It isn’t a lot to go on, but sure it’s better than nothing…

Don’t get your hopes up TOO high, this doesn’t feature a still of Tyrion sitting on the thrones, surrounded by the bloodied corpses of everyone else still alive in the show, taking his place as the ruler of all the kingdoms.

But it does mean the publicity wheel for the final season of the biggest show of all time has begun to turn, as the beginning of the end steams inevitably towards us.

Are you ready?

Here it is…

We did warn you it wasn’t much to go on, but it does show Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington looking pretty cosy, which anyone who has been keeping up with the plot of the show will know… is kind of icky.

Entertainment Weekly also have chats with some of the folks involved, with Harington telling the outlet that the final scenes were “relentless, scenes that would have been a one-day shoot five years ago are now a five-day shoot. They want to get it right, they want to shoot everything every single way so they have options”.

Clarke added that “Every choice, every conversation, every attitude, has this air of ‘this is it.’ Everything feels more intense.”

Additionally, co-executive producer Bryan Cogman said “It’s about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death.

“It’s an incredibly emotional haunting bittersweet final season and I think it honours very much what [author George R.R. Martin] set out to do — which is flipping this kind of story on its head.”

Still no set air date for the final season, but we’d put some good money on it showing up around the spring of next year.
