In terms of TV reboots that fans are clamouring for, the usual suspects are always at the top of the list. Friends, The Office, and Sex and the City are just some of the main contenders but there's one title that's rarely mentioned, Frasier.
Given the fact that the show is one of - if not THE - greatest sitcom of all time, it might appear strange that massive fans of the show - and JOE is a massive fan of Frasier, Martin, Daphne, Eddie and NILES (said in best Frasier 'shouting' voice) - aren't insisting on new episodes but after 11 seasons, everyone's favourite psychiatrist left our screens in the best possible way because Goodnight, Seattle was perfect.
Absolutely perfect.
Well, it appears that the Doc is still listening because
Deadline have reported that Kelsey Grammer is looking at way to reboot his iconic character.
Unlike other returning hits like Will & Grace and Roseanne, the Frasier reboot is likely to be set in a new city, with the title character, played by Grammer, as a possible link to the Emmy-winning 1993 series.
Of course, Frasier was a spinoff of Cheers after Dr. Crane relocated from Boston to Seattle - so it seems like they're interested in pursuing a similar approach.
The report states that Grammer is meeting with various writers who are pitching different concepts for the potential follow-up series.
During the course of the show airing, Frasier set a record for the most Emmy Awards won by a scripted series at the time, 37, including five consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Series.
While we're not entirely closed off to the idea of a new show, the fact that John Mahoney (Martin Crane) has passed away will surely detract from any new effort because the relationship between Martin and Frasier was special.
Then again, if we're treated to a few laughs like this, we might be changing our minds very quickly.
