Disney+ has just added a terrific new action adventure series from the creator of Happy Valley

Coming from the creator of Happy Valley and starring one of the Derry Girls, all episodes of the show are available to watch right now.

Created by Sally Wainwright (Happy Valley), it stars Louisa Harland (best known for playing Orla in Derry Girls) as Nell Jackson, a quick-witted and courageous young woman in 18th century England who finds herself framed for murder.

Subsequently going on the run, she unexpectedly becomes the most notorious outlaw in the country – all the while being aided on her travels by a magical protective spirit named Billy Blind (Nick Mohammed).

Also starring Adrian Lester (Riviera), Alice Kremelberg (The Sinner), Frank Dillane (Fear the Walking Dead) and Joely Richardson (The Gentlemen), Renegade Nell is well-worth watching thanks to its stylish action set-pieces, its witty writing, its interesting historical setting and its playful blend of history and folklore.

However, the main reason to check it out is for Louisa Harland’s immensely likeable lead turn as the sweet but tough Nelly.
