Fans have been left blown away by ITV's "darkest drama ever" which features a "performance of a lifetime" from one particular actor.
The show called 'Until I Kill You' is based on the events that occurred between serial killer John Sweeney played by Shaun Evans and his ex-girlfriend Delia Balmer played by Anna Maxwell Martin.
The four-part mini-series follows the nightmare relationship between Sweeney and Balmer as the former admits to the latter that he killed his ex-girlfriend as he goes on to almost kill Balmer too.
The series then turns to focus on the failures of the police and the juridical system.
The show is set in the 90s and currently has a rating of 7.4/10 on IMDb.
However, it is the performance of Anna Maxwell Martin that has left viewers stunned as they call it the "performance of a lifetime".
Many fans of the show took to X to give Maxwell Martin her flowers.
One person wrote: "Anna Maxwell Martin is outstandingly good in this. What an actor, able to straddle comedy and serious drama so brilliantly. She should be winning everything (and should have been for a long time)."
Another person said: "A hard watch but brilliantly told. An important story. Anna Maxwell Martin giving the performance of her career. And that last image of Delia - so striking."
Meanwhile one commenter put: "Delia Balmer was failed by the police time and again, She is an absolute superstar for being so resilient. Anna Maxwell Martin’ portrayal of her in Until I kill You is Oscar worthy."
In 2011, Sweeney was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of two women, Melissa Halstead and Paula Fields.
The show is streaming on ITVX.
