James Dawson

So goodbye yellow brick road.

Elton John has announced that he will retire from touring following an epic final world tour.

Beginning in the US on September 8, 2018, the ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour will consist of more than 300 shows across five continents, hitting North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Australasia, reaching its conclusion in 2021.

He will arrive in the UK in late 2020.

Speaking in New York, he said he was saying goodbye to travelling the world due to family commitments.

“I always thought I was going to be like Ray Charles, BB King – on the road forever,” he said.

“My priorities have changed. We had children and I changed our lives. That doesn’t mean to say I’m not going to be creative. but I’m not going to travel.”

He also denied reports that he was retiring due to ill health.

“Last year I picked up an infection and I was very ill and it knocked me sideways,” he admitted. “But I still did 96 shows.

“Believe me – if you ever do 300 shows, you’re not in ill health.”

UK shows will go on sale in September 2018, with fans advised to sign-up to his website for regular information and updates.
