Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy has revealed that he has switched to a vegan lifestyle.
PETA announced the actor's switch to the other side on their Facebook page, alongside the caption: "Love to hear it!".
Speaking on the podcast WTF with Marc Maron last July, the 47-year-old went into rare details surrounding his lifestyle and life off-screen.
Comedian Marc Maron, who hosts the popular longform pod, asked the Irishman if he enjoys cooking and what he usually makes to eat.
Murphy responded: "I’ve been trying the vegan thing as well. I don’t miss the meat, no. I’ve been off the meat for a long time.
"I had kind of a relapse, and I didn’t feel any better, so I’m back off it again," he continued.
If you were to guess what he relapsed on, it'd be a while before you'd get it.
It was venison.
"It was very nice," he said, before clarifying: "I don’t eat it anymore."
The Peaky Blinders star did, however, admit missing cheese, but said other than that he'd found the transition to be a wholly positive one.
Maron asked Murphy if he had chosen the diet for health or ethical reasons, to which he replied: "At the beginning it was just, there was loads of mad cow disease and stuff like that happening … it was a bad scene. So I just don’t do it now."
In an interview with Mr Porter from 2017, the Corkman revealed that he had been vegetarian for fifteen years, but had to go back to eating meat once he was confirmed for the role of Tommy Shelby in the hit series, apparently to make him look less "like a skinny Irish fella".
Stephen Knight, creator of the Peaky Blinders series, recently confirmed Murphy's reprisal of the iconic Birmingham gangster role for the upcoming feature length film adaptation.
Speculation had mounted over the last year or so that a feature length spin-off was in the works, and the rumours were confirmed by Knight at the premiere of his new BBC show, This Town, last week.
The 64-year-old not only confirmed his reunion with Murphy, but also revealed that the film will be set during WWII, so there will be a time jump from where season six left us.
