CEO confirms more Netflix original content is on the way

Is this a price worth paying for?

With recent reports suggesting that Netflix is set to lose thousands of the film titles that have been available to its users, their plans for the future appear clearer.

CEO Reed Hastings recently laid out a vision for its future which appears to be heavily focused on the production of its original shows.

The likes of Narcos, House of Cards, and Orange Is the New Black have been hugely successful on Netflix in recent months.

Hastings also predicted that placing such emphasis on original content may mean that the cost of a Netflix subscription may be about to rise.

“The more we have incredible value, the more we have amazing originals, then we are going to be able to ask consumers for more to be able to invest more,” he is quoted as saying by Business Insider UK.

With plans to spend a staggering $5 billion on content next year, it’s perhaps unsurprising that the price of the most popular subscription plan in the US has risen.

With more original content on its way, increased subscription fees for us Brits can be expected, too. But will it be a price worth paying?
