The Joker wanted to introduce 'a little anarchy' in The Dark Knight, but Casey Affleck's comments about his brother returning to play Batman should introduce a little confusion regarding the status of The Batman.
After Ben Affleck confirmed that he
won't be directing the standalone Batman film, War for the Planet of the Apes director
Matt Reeves stepped in and all seemed to be calm in Gotham City.
Rumours regarding Batfleck's return to the play the character swirled after Warner Brother’s presentation of its upcoming DC superhero movies.
During that panel, the star of Good Will Hunting and Armageddon was pretty cryptic about his future as the Caped Crusader.
"I am the luckiest guy in the world. Batman is the coolest part in any universe, Marvel DC, anything–I’m so thrilled to do it. Its fucking amazing. I still can’t believe it. Everyone at the studio tells me I’m their Batman and I believe it. And Matt Reeves? I’d be an ape on the ground for Matt Reeves. I’m blown away and its an exciting time in the DC Universe. I’m excited to be Batman," he said.
Not exactly an 100% commitment from Ben Affleck but speaking with
WEEI Sports Radio Network, his fellow Oscar-winning brother, Casey, was asked about his brother's involvement with The Batman.
"He’s not going to do that movie, I don’t think. Or so I would say," Casey Affleck said.
This seems like a definitive answer until the hosts say Casey is “breaking news.”
Immediately, the star of Manchester by the Sea and Gone Baby Gone backtracks on the comments by saying “Is that breaking news? I was just kind of making that up."
Granted, Casey might have been trying to wind up his brother up on Ben's birthday, but listen to the interview at the 6:38 mark for further clarity.
