Bradley Walsh laughs at answer on the Chase

Step aside Fanny Chmelar, there’s a new kid on the block

Bradley Walsh was left in fits of laughter on The Chase after yet another answer on the quiz show tickled his funny bone.

The 62-year-old host has become renowned for being easily amused at some of the cheekier answers on the show. Previous examples include William Crotch and most famously Fanny Chmelar – twice.

Well, now there’s another to add to the archive.

This week, an episode of the popular quiz show aired in which one of the answer to the questions was a “chocolate starfish.”

Reading out the question and answers, Walsh said: “Which of these is NOT a genuine species of starfish? A. Goose foot starfish. B. Red-knobbed starfish. C. Chocolate starfish.”

But he just couldn’t get to the end of the that cheeky final answer without cracking up in typical Bradley fashion. Even ‘The Governess’ Anne Hegerty couldn’t suppress a giggle.

The contestant himself chose ‘chocolate starfish’ – at this point we’re hoping we don’t need to explain why this term is funny, use your imagination – to which Bradley exclaimed: “What made you put that?”

No one could contain their laughter… (ITV)

…not even ‘the Governess’! (ITV)

He replied: “Funnily enough it’s the only starfish I’d heard of!”

Cue yet more laughter from the host, and a desperate effort to regain his composure.

“Chocolate starfish you’ve put, and rightly so,” he said. “Here we go – correct answer is… chocolate starfish is absolutely right. A step closer to home, well played!”

Anne joked: “You can’t have chocolate under the sea because the sharks eat it all.”

Unsurprisingly, the whole thing delighted viewers at home.

One person said it was the “best question ever,” with another saying: “This show is unrivalled.”

A third said the question had led to a “rather embarrassing conversation” with their parents.

Never change Bradley, never change.
