Anyone who grew up in the 90s will remember taking trips to their local video store
We might be spoilt for choice with Netflix on our laptops nowadays, but searching the shelves for the right movie and buying the popcorn at the till on a Friday night felt like a special treat. Popping the tape back into the letterbox on Monday morning was a ritual it's impossible to replicate in a digital format.
But alas, all things must pass, and as people began to download movies online in the noughties, video rental stores became increasingly redundant.
You'll probably be pleased to hear, though, that for two days only a Blockbuster will be making a return to the UK. To celebrate the release of Deadpool 2 a pop-up in Shoreditch, London will be recreating a branch of the video rental chain and giving you a chance to relive your youth one last time.
Along with the chance to see the inside of a Blockbuster one more time, there will also be 1,989 free copies of ‘Deadpool 2’ on offer when the pop-up opens for two days from noon on 17 September.
And anyone who has kept their blue-and-yellow laminated Blockbuster membership card will be able to skip the queues to receive a limited-edition VHS case containing a download code for the film.
