A major character was originally supposed to die in Guardians of the Galaxy

Things could have been very different

Despite no one really knowing who the characters were, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy went on to be a massive hit.

Now we’re about to get Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and the raft of four and five star reviews have got us hyped up to the nines – Friday cannot come quickly enough.

The stars of the movie are currently out promoting the movie, and one of them giving us a tasty little insight into the first movie. It turns out that Nebula, nemesis and sort-of sister of Gamora, was originally scripted to die in Guardians.

Karen Gillian, the actress who portrays Nebula, told Digital Spy: “I definitely had a feeling that there was room for the character to expand in the future, but she was originally supposed to die in the first movie, I think I remember in the script.

“She obviously did not die, then I found out that she was coming back in the second movie and then I found out we got to explore all these amazing things about her past and her relationship with Gamora, her sister, so I was really happy.”

We’ll have to wait and see if Nebula makes it through Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but with the promise of a Guardians/Avengers crossover in Avengers: Infinity War, who knows where she might end up next.
