Yesterday the official main trailer for Ocean’s 8 dropped and it’s already clocked up over 2 million views.
Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson and Awkwafina look set to deliver a brilliant addition to the franchise, as they set their heisting sights on the Met Gala.
But did you spot any hidden clues in the trailer?

Mr. Blobby (seen through the window) makes a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance as Anne Hathaway and James Corden’s characters appear to be having some kind of meeting. Acting among two worldwide megastars must’ve been quite a daunting feat for James, but he seems to be handling the situation with great poise. But what relevance does Mr. Blobby have to the plot? Also, how did he get up so high? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
Yodel Kid is somehow in Ocean’s 8, which makes very little sense since he only went viral about a week ago and they finished filming the movie in March last year. Did they foresee his fame and stardom before the rest of the world? Is this merely another very poor Photoshop effort to make the trailer seem more interesting and mysterious than it actually is? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
If you look close enough, you’ll see that Sandra Bullock’s character appears to have a ‘Moyes Out’ tattoo on her neck. The former Man United manager’s efforts angered many fans, even those that carry out heists, it seems. Will Moyes himself make a cameo in the movie? Will Sandra’s character get the tattoo removed because it’s culturally very stale now? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
Someone’s looking at knickers on ASOS during the new Ocean’s 8 trailer, which is unexpected but not unwelcome. But what’s the relevance to the plot? Will the characters buy nice underwear to feel empowered on the outside as well as the inside? Or was this simply a candid moment caught in between takes for which someone is likely to get fired? Former FBI director James Comey is seen eating in a restaurant (behind Cate Blanchett’s character) in the new trailer. He appears to be having quite an animated conversation, whatever the topic. Is he trying to wriggle his way into the world of acting now? Is this a mere coincidence, as the man needs to eat, just like you and I? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
Classic Apple dominating every goddamn industry, am I right? They appear to debut their latest revolutionary product, the Apple Dress during the new movie, with Mindy Kaling’s character getting the great honour of wearing this new design. Is this the focal point of the movie? Do the girls need to heist the dress out of the Met Gala? Have I run out of ideas yet? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
Helena Bonham Carter’s character is seen with the Olsen twins in her hair during the trailer, but what does that mean? Do the twins feature in the movie, then get turned into a pair of hairpieces thanks to some evil witch doctor? Or is it simply a statement on the state of how utterly bizarre the fashion industry has become? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
Mindy Kaling plays Operation in the new movie, but appears to use her own tools to gather the missing pieces. This is strictly prohibited under Operation’s official guidelines, so it’s clear that her character is going to be a very corrupt individual. Does a set of pliers hinder or help a game of Operation? Is Operation more fun to play in an actual operating theatre? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
Arthur from the hit television series Arthur appears to make a cameo in the movie, prompting speculation that the latest Oceans 8 film will have an educational element, delivered by an anthropomorphic aardvark. Will Arthur be able to put some manners on these ladies? Will he stay animated throughout his cameo and if so, will that make the movie weird? You’ll have to watch to find out!
Anne Hathaway seems to have two faces in Ocean’s 8, but how is this going to affect the plot of the movie? Will she commit to being someone’s bridesmaid, but then bitch about the bride behind her back the entire time about how annoying she is? Or will she tell a friend that she’s got incredible cheekbones (even though she doesn’t) in some sick act to get a compliment returned to her? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
As if the drama listed above wasn’t enough, the unimaginable appears to happen in the movie. Someone spills an entire cup of tea on the subway and nobody will clean it up. That tea is going to spread everywhere, soiling bags and shoes recklessly in its path. Look at those ladies, acting as if they can’t even see it. All it takes is a quick consultation of the CCTV footage to find the culprit. But who is it? Who spilled the tea? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
In the final teaser that the trailer exposes, Rihanna’s character appears to have eight wave formations on tattooed on her arm. What could this mean? She’s going to wave to eight people? She’s been the victim of a rough bit of sea weather eight times? No, you idiot. It’s the name of the movie. Ocean’s 8. Just watch the movie when it comes out, it looks good.
