Sarah Everard's body was discovered in a large bag, similar to those used by builders to transport heavy loads, a court heard on Saturday morning.
Police were able to identify the body by her dental records.
Everard was abducted on Wednesday March 3 while walking home through Clapham. Her boyfriend then reported her missing on March 4.
Her body was found in a woodland area near Ashford, Kent, a week after she was last seen via a doorbell camera.
A police officer has been charged with her kidnap and murder and attended Westminster Magistrate's Court on Saturday morning.
After the hearing he was remanded in custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey court on March 16 when he will be tried for her kidnap and murder.
A vigil in memory of Everard has been cancelled after discussions between Reclaim These Streets organisers and police, who argued it would be in breach of Covid regulations.
