Arrested Met police officer ‘not on duty’ when Sarah Everard went missing

The serving Metropolitan police officer arrested in connection with the disappearance of Sarah Everard was not on duty when she went missing. The man was arrested at an address in Kent and has since been taken to a London police station, where he remains in custody. A woman has also been arrested at the same location on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has been taken into custody at a London police station. “This is a serious and significant development in our search for Sarah and the fact that the man who’s been arrested is a serving Metropolitan police officer is both shocking and deeply disturbing. I recognise the significant concern this will cause,” Scotland Yard, Assistant Commissioner Nick Ephgrave said. This is a fast moving investigation and we are doing everything we can to find Sarah." Everard, 33, was last seen in Clapham at approximately 9pm last Wednesday, after leaving a friend's home. Police have continued to urge anyone who has information that may be relevant to the investigation to come forward.
