Taking the plunge…

Snapchat are set to make a big change to how you share stories in a bid to improve their stagnating user growth.

They’re reportedly developing a new feature which will let users share stories outside the Snapchat app according to live streaming news network Chedder.

The move is designed to boost Snapchat’s profile beyond the mobile app as Facebook and Instagram provide fierce competition to the social media app.

The “Stories Everywhere” feature, which Snapchat hope will provide for more user growth, is reportedly being developed with the aim of being released next year.

Earlier this year, Snapchat announced their Q3 earnings for 2017, where they added a total of 4.5 million new users. Not bad, but far below the expected eight million they’d predicted to add.

Ad rates also took another fall, and in what is an effort to combat slow user growth, Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel announced that the app would undergo a redesign.

“One thing that we have heard over the years is that Snapchat is difficult to understand or hard to use, and our team has been working on responding to this feedback,” Spiegel wrote in remarks the Q3 earnings call. “As a result, we are currently redesigning our application to make it easier to use.”

Some of the redesign is available to a limited number of users, and here are the new features which are available.
