Rocket League to become first game to allow Xbox/Playstation cross-network play

Xbox One v PS4....finally!

Rocket League could become the first video game ever to bring Xbox and Playstation gamers together online.

Microsoft officially confirmed today that the smash hit multiplayer game – which can accurately be described as FIFA meets Micro Machines – will be the first title to support the Xbox One’s cross-network play feature.

According to the game’s developer, Psyonix, cross-platform matches between Xbox One and PC owners will begin later this Spring, with support for ‘other platforms’ due to arrive later down the line. The feature is already available to PS4 and PC gamers, but no game has allowed all three platforms to co-exist in one lobby before.

A statement from Psynonix said: “To say that the team here at Psyonix is both honored and excited to have Rocket League as the first cross-network game is a massive understatement. Cross-network play has been the number-one most requested feature our community has asked for since Rocket League was first announced on Xbox One, and now that we are able to pursue complete online unity on all platforms, today’s announcement is a dream come true.”
