Paul Moore

Want to use a lightsaber like a Jedi over Christmas?

With the release of The Last Jedi in cinemas this week, Star Wars fans are absolutely pumped to be heading back to that galaxy that’s far, far away but if you’ve ever wanted to see what it’s like to be a Jedi, we’ve got some good news.

Listen up young Padawan because you can now get your own lightsaber to slash down droids, deflect laser blasts and battle Sith lords.

Lenovo and Disney have teamed up to create Star Wars: Jedi Challenges, a new augmented reality game that allows fans to experience Star Wars in ways that were never before possible. If you ever wondered what it’s like to wield a lightsaber and defeat some of the galaxy’s most famous villains, now is your chance.

Trust us, as major Star Wars fans, you’ll get such a giddy thrill from using a lightsaber to slash down your enemies.

Featuring a smartphone-powered Lenovo Mirage AR headset, Tracking Beacon, Lightsaber controller, and hours of Star Wars gameplay, Jedi Challenges allows users to train and perfect their lightsaber skills, command armies in combat missions to defeat the Empire, and outwit their opponents in Holochess (remember that famous game from A New Hope?) , all in augmented reality.

Are you strong enough with the force to defeat Kylo Ren and Darth Vader in a lightsaber battle? Now is the time to prove yourself.

Aside from this, there are various other gameplay modes.

Holochess – Outwit your opponents in the ultimate game of concentration and strategy. Direct your holographic alien pieces across the board as you battle for territory on checkered game tables.

Strategic combat- Lead Rebel forces against the Empire in large-scale ground wars. Command an army as you build out your outposts to withstand the forces of the Empire.

Lightsaber controller – Experience what it feels like to wield a lightsaber for the first time – to face-off against enemies right in your own living room. Feel your opponents’ attacks with force feedback.

Tracking beacon – The beacon ensures accurate tracking of your location while expanding and filling in the environment around you with an immersive augmented reality universe.

If you fancy picking Jedi Challenges up, it costs £260 and you can pick it up here and here.

In terms of the devices that Jedi Challenges is compatible with, you can use all of the following: iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7, Google Pixel XL, Google Pixel, Moto Z² Force Edition, LG G6.
