A Harry Potter version of Pokémon Go is coming

Paul Moore

Perfect for those that are still waiting for their Hogwarts letter.

Expecto fun because every muggle will now have the chance to step into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Niantic, the company behind the hit mobile game Pokémon Go, has revealed that its follow-up game will revolve around Harry Potter. The new mobile game will also use augmented reality to integrate muggles from our world with the fantastic beasts and the rest of Rowling’s magical creations.

We can just see hordes of wannabe witches and wizards rampaging through the streets as they say Accio, Expelliarmus and Reducto.

As reported by TechCrunch, Niantic and Warner Bros. Interactive are co-developing Harry Potter: Wizards Unite for a 2018 launch.

This new title is just the beginning though because they’ve also launched a brand video games division, Portkey Games. Somewhere, we imagine Cedric Diggory is crying after hearing that name.

Details about the game are sparse at the moment but we would be amazed if Niantic didn’t replicate the most social aspects of  Pokémon Go players were encouraged to explore cities for clues, characters, and power-ups.

Mmm, we wonder if the Marauders Map will make an appearance?

Altogether, “I solemnly swear that I’m up to no good.”
