Well that doesn't seem to be on the cards any more as Ibrahimovic's agent, Mino Raiola, has publicly dismissed that possibility by insisting the Swedish powerhouse wants to continue to play in Europe.
“Will he continue at United? I don't know, we will talk soon to sort out the future,” said Raiola, via Manchester Evening News.
“He will play for one more year, maybe two.
“There have been offers from clubs from many leagues, but he will remain in Europe 100 per cent.”
While United supporters would have preferred some more clarity, as they cling to the hope that Ibrahimovic will see out his career at Old Trafford, it will surely come as somewhat reassuring that he has no intention of pursuing a payday in MLS .
Fans of the Red Devils will have their fingers crossed that, now that United are in the Champions League, Ibrahimovic will want to lead the line and claim the trophy that's eluded him throughout his career.

Although injured, Ibrahimovic certainly enjoyed United's Europa League victory last week.
But after the game in Stockholm, the centre-forward remained coy on which jersey he would be wearing come the start of next season.
“In a few weeks I'll be back on the field,” Ibrahimovic said.
“Where? Let's see.”Explore more on these topics:
