“We call it soccer, get used to it!”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday night, and had no qualms about correcting the host of the popular American talk show.

The new LA Galaxy striker took exception to Kimmel referring to football as “soccer” – as most Americans do – and cut him off. “You’re not from here, you have to understand it’s very unusual to get this kind of enthusiasm for anything related to soccer,” Kimmel said.

“For the most part here, soccer is a game we wish our kids didn’t play so we didn’t have go to it on the weekends.”

Zlatan then interjected and said: “First of all, soccer? Football, we call it in Europe.”

“We call it soccer, get used to it!” Kimmel joked, but Zlatan wasn’t finished.

“So, we call it football, and football is the biggest sport in the world.”

The pair otherwise got along well, and the former Manchester United striker was warmly received by the crowd on the talk show, earning a good few laughs.

Zlatan has made a big impression in his short time stateside. He scored a stunning 40-yard goal on his debut, which happened to be first ever the Los Angeles derby against LAFC, and then scored the winning goal to make it 4-3 in a dramatic MLS match.
