Zlatan Ibrahimovic in and Steven Gerrard out at LA Galaxy?

'90% certain' to join LA Galaxy

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on the move this summer, that we already knew.

Since it was announced that the Swede would be leaving Paris Saint-Germain, he’s has been linked with moves to several clubs.

Some suggested Manchester United was a likely next stop for the Zlatan show; in recent days others have linked him with a return to AC Milan.

Now though, it appears Ibra will be heading to Major League Soccer.

Alessandro Alciato, a Sky Italia journalist and biographer for Andrea Pirlo and Carlo Ancelotti, tweeted during the early hours of Friday morning that Ibrahimovic was 90% certain to move to America in the months ahead.

Alciato adds that it’s most likely that he’ll join Los Angeles Galaxy, although this won’t be a straightforward matter.

MLS’s salary cap rules stipulate that each team is allowed three Designated Players. The wages paid to the Designated Players don’t count towards the salary cap. With Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Giovani Dos Santos currently occupying the three slots at the club, it would appear one would have to make way if Zlatan is to arrive in California.

Given that Gerrard recently admitted that he intended to return to Liverpool “sooner rather than later”, perhaps his stay in MLS will come to an end in the near future.
