Despite Olivier Giroud's opening goal, a Bogdan Stancu penalty had equalised things for Romania who held firm and looked to be on the verge of an important point against the hosts. As the clock was about to tick over into injury time, Payet - who had consistently caused danger for the resolute Romanian defence with his expertly-placed crosses - stepped up and took things into his own hands (or feet).
