So there you have it. Not even a couple of weeks after Craig Shakespeare's dismissal, Leicester have appointed Claude Puel as their new manager.
Michael Appleton, who had filled in as caretaker manager for the Carabao Cup game with Leeds on Tuesday night, will stay on to support the former Southampton manager as his assistant.
Despite leading Southampton to the League Cup final last season, Puel left the club after they finished their league campaign in eighth.
As word spread of the new appointment, it prompted a familiar response from one of the club's most famous supporters. Gary Lineker, who began his playing career with the Foxes, appeared to question the appointment...
