Patrice Evra's time as a Marseille player is up.

The 36-year-old, who joined the Ligue 1 side from Juventus in January, has left the club by mutual consent following an incident which saw him aim a kick at one of the club's supporters prior to a Europa League tie in Portugal last week. Shortly before the news was confirmed, it was also announced that Evra would have to serve a seven-month ban from Uefa competitions and would have to pay a €10,000 fine. It's now unclear if the left back, who played for his national side in the European Championships last summer, will find a new club following Friday's developments. Perhaps predictably, however, news of him now becoming a free agent was enough to see some Manchester United supporters encouraging the club to re-sign him for a second stint at Old Trafford. Evra joined United from Monaco in 2006 and established himself as a permanent fixture for the club at left-back. By the time he left in 2014, he was a firm fans' favourite.
