World Cup today: Punditry line-ups, match list and everything you need to know

Day four is set to be a whopper

Patrick McCarry

Only three matches? What happened to four matches in one day?!

After being spoiled rotten by Fifa on Saturday, the Swiss tax haven residents have only deemed Father’s Day fit for three World Cup group games. Perhaps it is so European fathers can spend some quality time with their offspring before stepping into the front room and whacking on the big TV for another lengthy stint of football-ogling.

First up on the agenda is Costa Rica vs Serbia at 1pm.

ITV’s punditry line-up is looking strong once again, as Jacqui Oatley is joined in the studio by Henrik Larsson, Patrice Evra and Eni Aluko, with commentary from Joe Speight and Iain Dowie.

What follows has the potential to be game of the day as reigning champions Germany take on Mexico at 4pm.

BBC are going all guns blazing for this one and their TV guide synopsis is drool-inducing:

Gary Lineker introduces live coverage from Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium as reigning world champions Germany play Mexico, who have been knocked out in the last 16 on their last six appearances.

Commentary is by Jonathan Pearce and Phil Neville, with Alan Shearer and Rio Ferdinand providing expert analysis in the studio.

Yes to all of the above.

Day 4 of the World Cup ends with Switzerland vs Brazil at 7pm.

We’re set for some top tier analysis as that man Roy Keane is in studio again with his old buddy Slaven Bilic and former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville.

Mark Pougatch is also joined by Ian Wright, along with Keane, Bilic and Neville, in the studio, with commentary from Clive Tyldesley and Lee Dixon.

We’ll be gleefully channel-hopping all day.
