West Ham surprise season ticket holder with visit from star midfielder

Just delivering a Cheikh...

From having Alan Shearer give away tickets in Barclays ads to helping a young supporter win SPFL Goal of the Month competitions, football clubs love to give back to their fans.

While the target for such generosity tends to be the younger generation, West Ham United bucked that trend this week.

Hammers supporter Gavin Bayer has renewed his season ticket for the 2015/16 campaign, West Ham’s last at Upton Park.

So as a ‘thank you’ he was rewarded with a surprise visit from one of the club’s best performers this year – midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate.

A grinning Gavin revealed it was “absolutely amazing” to be greeted by Kouyate at London City Airport, where he works.

“I see Cheikh out of the corner of my eye and think to myself he must be flying out of here,” he said. “If I was to say I was shellshocked I think that would be a bit of an understatement.”

JOE is looking forward to more Premier League stars visiting fans at their places of work, but why stop there? Why not a full job-swap?

After all, who wouldn’t like to see Wayne Rooney delivering a particle physics lecture or Joey Barton behind the till at Greggs?

There’s something in this, we’re sure of it.
