West Ham go retro with their 2016/17 away kit

Much of West Ham's last season at the Boleyn Ground was spent remembering some of the club's successes over the years.

So it is only appropriate that the first campaign at the Olympic Stadium will have a similarly nostalgic bent. The London club have unveiled their new away kit, and it might remind you of the one they wore for their 1980 FA Cup Final triumph against Arsenal. And they've paid tribute to their new home, too, with Union Flags on the sleeves and back in what the club describes as 'A symbol of West Ham’s pride to be playing at the Stadium that hosted the London 2012 Olympic Games'. https://twitter.com/whufc_official/status/740803720716423169 For those of you who read a lot into the players used for such kit launches, the sight of Dimitri Payet will come as a boost to West Ham fans. The French star has been linked with a big money move away from East London, but he takes pride of place alongside captain Mark Noble. After years of blue away kits, the return to white comes as the Hammers begin a new era at their new 60,000-capacity home. It will get its first airing during the club's pre-season tour of the United States in early July, when they take on the Seattle Sounders and Carolina Railhawks.
