West Ham could be heading to the Europa League next season

West Ham and Everton are battling it out for a spot in next season's Europa League.

Uefa has announced that the Netherlands, England and Republic of Ireland will each get an extra place in the first qualifying round of the Europa League after topping its fair play standings. Liverpool currently sit atop the Premier League’s fair play league but since they look destined to qualify for Europe via their league position, West Ham could grab the last place. The Hammers have a current fair play score of 281.25, which was calculated by taking into account red and yellow cards as well as respect towards opponents, officials and the behaviour of their own staff, while Everton are just trailing in third place with 278.25. Neither West Ham or the Toffees can qualify automatically for the Europa League as they lie in ninth and 11th place respectively. Fair Play Table   Hat-tip to the Guardian
