Son of club legend Wayne Rooney, Kai, has reportedly been offered a new deal by Manchester United.
Kai Rooney, 16, who plays as a forward, for years has been part of United’s academy.
And now he is part of a group of 14 teenagers who have been offered new deals by the Red Devils, according to The Sun.
Kai, the eldest son of the Rooneys’, finishes school this summer and has now been offered a formar one-year scholarship at the club.
As per the contract, it would then switch to a three-year pro deal and he would earn £50,000 a year.
It is understood that the Rooney family have not agreed to the deal at this stage, and they have until July to decide whether to sign the deal.
“The group is very strong and the majority of the boys including Kai and Jacey have been offered deals”, a source said.
“It means when they finish school they can go into full-time ‘football employment’ and then when they turn 17 are guaranteed a pro status.”
“They still have a long way to go to make the grade, but they can be very proud that the club thinks they have a chance of making it.”
Part of the “very strong” group of talented teens also includes Jacey Carrick, son of Michael Carrick, another club legend who is now interim manager at the club.
Last month, Kai’s debut in the FA Youth Cup for the under-18s at Old Trafford was followed by Wayne and Michael, who were team-mates in the club’s most glorious period.

His first game at the Theatre of Dreams, some nine years on since his father’s last game at the ground, was also seen by his mum, Coleen.
And his dad, Wayne, said that the first thing that son Kai said to him on their way home was that “the pitch was massive”, while he spoke on his BBC podcast The Wayne Rooney Show.
“Kai got moved up to the under-18s squad for the Youth Cup and it was great to see him come on. It brought back memories of when I played in the Youth Cup for Everton. It was a proud moment and I’m delighted for him”, the Red Devils’ record goalscorer added.
And while speaking to former United team-mate Gary Neville on The Overlap, Rooney said that “[He has] my physique, but he’ll be taller than me and he’s a goalscorer, he’s in the box, he sniffs chances out and that’s his game, so he’s doing OK.”
Neville asked him: “Obviously you can’t remember yourself, but is he at that sort of level where you think he’s got a chance, or is it too early?” Rooney replied: “I think it’s too early, you never know.”
