Wayne Rooney leaves training early as Big Sam admits negotiations have taken place

There is no problem between Rooney and his manager

It’s looking increasingly likely that Wayne Rooney is about to add a third club to his CV.

Reports claim that a deal in principle is in place which will see Rooney move Stateside for a spell with D.C. United this summer.

It’s reported that the MLS club is prepared to offer Everton £12 million to convince them to part ways with their top scorer this season once the league’s transfer and trade window opens on July 10.

Rooney underwent treatment on a minor knee injury at the club’s Finch Farm training base on Friday and decided to leave when the squad of fit players headed out for their afternoon session.

While Rooney remains top of the Toffees’ goalscoring charts, with 11 to his name this season, he hasn’t netted since mid-December and it’s been suggested that he is eager to leave Goodison Park this summer.

Sky Sports News has claimed that Rooney left Everton training before any of his teammates had even trained on Friday, shortly before manager Sam Allardyce said he was eager to speak to the forward, who turns 32 in October.

Allardyce revealed that contact had been made between D.C. United and Rooney but hastened to point out that there was no issue between him and the striker

“My understanding is there seems to have been some negotiation somewhere along the line but as for clarity as to whether Wayne is staying or going we’ll see later on,” said Allardyce.

“I’m comfortable with any player who wants to leave but let’s put this right. Wayne Rooney has not asked to leave and neither has Wayne Rooney had a confrontation with me.”
