Wayne Rooney confirms he is staying at Manchester United

Going nowhere.

Wayne Rooney has broken his silence on his Manchester United future, and he’s going nowhere.

The United and England forward had been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, and that talk only intensified when manager Jose Mourinho admitted he couldn’t guarantee Rooney’s future at the club.

But the 31-year-old is not ready to ditch United for the Chinese Super League – or indeed anywhere else – just yet.

“Despite the interest which has been shown from other clubs, for which I’m grateful, I want to end recent speculation and say that I am staying at Manchester United,” Rooney is quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph.

The former Everton player added that he was keen to help the club continue its fight for “success on four fronts”.

Rooney became Manchester United’s all-time record goalscorer earlier this season when he fired home a last-minute equaliser against Stoke City in the Premier League, but has ceased to be an automatic pick for the 13-time Premier League winners.

There had reportedly been interest from China, where the transfer window is yet to close ahead of the upcoming league season, but Rooney has no plans to leave, at least not immediately.
