Is Goal! The Dream Begins actually a good film?
I think so. Well, I remember it being good when I was nine years old, which is not the same thing. But football films are not meant to be compared to the classics. Nobody is expecting Casablanca, just some semi-realistic football sequences, with a captivating plot, some convincing acting and a climactic ending. Goal! The Dream Begins has all of those things, kind of.
As an avid fan of the film (the first one...) I was shocked to discover that my colleague, Kyle, had never seen it. How could a football fan not have seen a picture of such cultural significance?
There was only one thing to do: sit down over Skype and watch it together. This is the result.
