With 25 minutes to play against West Ham, Rooney had already scored both of Everton's goals.
A long ball was pumped forward in the direction of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The young striker failed to control it properly, allowing Joe Hart to race from his goal and clear the ball into the Everton half.
Meeting the ball in the centre circle, Rooney drilled a first time shot back over the head of Hart and West Ham's defence and into the empty goal.
