Maybe narcissism is bookable offence in the Swedish third tier.
Hat-tricks are a rare occurrence for most players, but the odds of a player achieving this feat are lengthened considerably when they play in a defensive role. So if you're a defender who manages to bag three goals in one game, one would think that you deserve a little leeway when it comes to your celebration, right?
Well that's utter bovine excrement, as Mehmed Dresevic found out in a recent match.
The defender, who plays for Swedish third-tier side Norrby, was left red-faced (and red-carded) after scored his third goal during his side's 6-1 win over Tvaaker.
After seeing his third goal go sailing into the net, Dresevic wanted to mark the occasion with a celebration that was a little bit different. The Swede ran off the pitch, sat in an empty seat in the stands and began applauding himself as if he was a fan. However, when he returned to the pitch, the referee was quick to show him a yellow card for leaving the field. Since it was his second booking of the game, he was given his marching orders.
