While the likes of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, and even Andy Carroll have scored some pretty spectacular acrobatic strikes over the years, how many of them could have done it while battling blizzard-like conditions?
Step up 23-year-old Mexican star David Rodriguez. With his club Atletico Ottawa 1-0 behind while well into the first-half of the esteemed Canadian North Star Cup final, he scored a magnificent bicycle — or "icicle" — kick to set his side up for glory.

Rodriguez only signed for Atletico Ottawa earlier this year, before which he admitted to having "zero experience" in cold conditions.
Snow constantly interrupted play, with officials stopping the match every 15 minutes to clear the lines, goalkeepers shovelling their boxes, and even a snowplough entering the pitch before extra-time.

With Sunday's temperature plummeting to -8°C, it would've been enough to dissuade even the boldest attackers from attempting to score with a flexible finish. Not Rodriguez though.
Then, following his impressive "icicle" goal, he went on to seal victory in the 107th minute.
Speaking after full-time, Rodriguez said: “I came to a locker room and I was excited. I saw it was snowing, and I was like ‘it’s gonna be a good day,’”
Atletico goalkeeper Nathan Ingham summed up the night perfectly:
“The whole night feels fake. You play us in sand, you play us in snow, you play us on the moon — this team is going to win.”
Atletico Ottawa, founded in 2020 as a franchise of Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, have now secured their place in CPL history — in a match fans won’t soon forget.
