WATCH: Footballer with amazing voice actually kills it with initiation song

GET THIS MAN ON X FACTOR

JOE

Wow.

Football initiations are a grand old tradition of the sport. What may seem like an excuse to embarrass or humiliate a new signing is far more a case of breaking the ice and welcoming a fresh face into the fold. You do your thing, everyone takes the piss, and you’ve shown you’re up for a laugh.

John Terry’s rendition of Stand By Me in front of his new Aston Villa teammates was a perfect example. He was hardly pitch perfect but that didn’t matter. Former England captain and celebrated Chelsea legend or not, he’d made clear from the start that he was just one of the boys.

But there was nothing cringeworthy about new Northampton signing Billy Waters’ initiation – quite the opposite in fact. The recent recruit from Cheltenham shocked teammates by being able to hold a note, and then some. His rendition of Toploader’s 1999 hit ‘Dancing In The Moonight’ was spot on.

The 22-year-old striker has been signed to hit the back of the net on a regular basis, but on this showing, performing hits won’t be a problem…
