WATCH: Celtic players left fuming after horror tackle on Scott Brown

He was stamped on in a delicate area

Ouch!

Celtic moved one step closer to retaining the Scottish Premiership with a 3-0 win over Ross County at Celtic Park on Saturday. Moussa Dembélé’s penalty opened the scoring in the 28th minute and from then one, the result was never in doubt.

Of course, Ross County’s Andrew Davies being sent off made it easier for Celtic to seal the win. The sending off came after a horror tackle on Celtic captain Scott Brown, who was brutally stamped on by Davies.

Brendan Rodgers described the tackle as “one of the worst I have ever seen” and it’s not hard to see why.

Some may argue that Brown has dished out his fair share of rough tackles in his career, but he has undoubtedly toned down that side of that game. And this was a violent, calculated, intentional tackle on Celtic’s most important player.

It was also dangerously close to a very sensitive area. Go in hard on your opponents if you have to, but leave that area alone. That crosses a line.

Ross County interim manager Stuart Kettlewell said “I’ve not seen the sending-off incident. Andrew is an honest guy, he is our leader on the pitch and is disappointed he has been sent off today. We will look at the incident and take it from there.”
