WATCH: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sings Three Lions as England thrash Panama 6-1

He was loving it

He’s there in spirit, if not in person

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is spending the summer at home, rather than out in Russia with the rest of the England squad.

The Liverpool midfielder’s excellent form for the Reds had seen him become a serious contender for a place in Gareth Souhgate’s squad, but the knee injury he picked up in the Champions League semi-final against Roma unfortunately ruled out any possibility of him being part of the 23-strong group taken to the World Cup.

Shortly after the extent of his injury was confirmed, Chamberlain posted a statement thanking fans for their support, as well as admitting his sadness at not being able to make it to Russia.

Despite that disappointment, Chamberlain appears to be massively enjoying watching the Three Lions as a fan, especially after their hugely dominant 6-1 victory against Panama in Sunday’s game.

The victory, which confirms England’s place in the round of 16 ahead of their final group game, was England’s record win at a major tournament, and if Chamberlain’s Instagram story was anything to go by, he was loving every moment of it.

The story, which was posted seconds after England took a 5-0 lead ahead of half-time, shows Chamberlain dancing merrily around what appears to be his living room, while a remix of “Three Lions” plays in the background.

Now, while we are not sure about listening to anything other than the original “Three Lions”, we are very much in favour of the Ox having as much fun watching Harry Kane and co. as the rest of us.
