Was this story the beginning of the end for Mario Balotelli at Liverpool?

With stories circulating that Mario Balotelli is set to stay on at Liverpool, this comical tale might explain why Brendan Rodgers is still keen to get rid.

The Independent have reported on a stunning goal the Italian scored during a training session. Around the half-way line, the striker turned and fired a shot past a hapless Brad Jones in goal - sounds impressive right? Wrong, as unfortunately for Mario, the strike was actually an own goal. Balotelli burst into laughter as 'witnesses stood open-mouthed: first-team players shook their heads in disbelief, youngsters smirked nervously at the brilliance in front of them'. We can't express the frustration we feel at the lack of video footage of this incident. It's just not fair.
