Oh Michael.

Liverpool fans are the first to defend their club if they feel that they are coming under unfair criticism. In fact you’ll do well to find a more vociferous sets of supporters, in every sense of the word.

But they are also realists who appreciate that Jurgen Klopp has much to do before their beloved Redmen can be anywhere near where they want them to be. Certainly the squad needs drastic improvements.

But on Wednesday night, with Exeter City the visitors to Anfield, Michael Owen came out with another classic to add to his collection of classic Owen-isms. Surely he’s now taking the p*ss.

Whilst Liverpool held a slender 1-0 lead, the former Liverpool and Man United striker praised Klopp’s men thus:

That’s right – he described four of the least popular and rated players currently at Anfield as a ‘really strong spine’. As you’d expect, this didn’t go unchallenged on the p*sstake hub of social media.
