Borussia Dortmund’s victory over Mainz on Sunday was marred by tragedy.
Dortmund ran out 2-0 winners, with goals from Marco Reus and Shinji Kagawa but the result was overshadowed by the news that a fan had passed away at the game after suffering a heart attack.
During the second half, it was reported that another fan had suffered cardiac arrest at the game, but it was confirmed that he was in a stable condition before the game had ended.
The normally passionate and vociferous Dortmund support fell silent hushed to an eerie silence as the news traveled around the stadium.
After the final whistle, the Dortumund support belted out an emotional rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ as tribute to both fans who had heart attacks at the match. Check out the touching moment below.
