Video: Rugby League player smashes through brick wall in bid to win NRL contract

Lift weights, you make no breaks...

It shouldn’t be too long until we get a Darwin Award candidate from the NRL’s new reality TV show.

The League has recently launched The NRL Rookie, a programme in which Rugby League hopefuls compete against each other to win an NRL contract.

Entrants have been sending audition videos in their droves showcasing their skills and personality. While most of the applicants have been showing off their ability to pump iron, others have been literally putting their bodies on the line to prove their worth.

David Andjelz is a prime example of someone who definitely went too far. In a bid to become a contestant on The NRL Rookie, Andjelz decided to construct a wall of bricks, grab a rugby ball and run through it at full speed.

The immediate question that springs to mind is ‘why?’, swiftly followed by another ‘why?’.

The interviewer asked David why he would willingly sprint face-first into a wall of concrete, and he responded with the obvious answer: “Mate, I love footy and playing footy.”
