Watch Javier Hernandez finish devastating counter attack to seal brilliant Bayer Leverkusen comeback

Some turnaround

Ben Kiely

It may be a cliche, but Bayer Leverkusen’s win over Schalke at the weekend was the archetypal game of two halves.

Schalke took a 2-0 lead into the break thanks to first half goals from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Leroy Sane. In fact, Bayer Leverkusen were lucky the margin was that narrow at half time after Klaas-Jan Huntelaar saw his first half penalty saved.

The tide began to change in the second half though as Leverkusen hit back with quickfire goals from Julian Brandt, Karim Bellarabi and finally Javier Hernandez who netted the winner on the 60 minute mark.

Chicharito capped off a lightning quick counter-attack move that began with a Schalke corner kick with a tidy finish to bring his tally to 26 goals in all competitions since his summer move from Manchester United.

Te win also saw Leverkusen gain a five-point lead over Hertha Berlin who are also competing for the final automatic Champions League qualification slot in the Bundesliga.
