Victor Valdes is already unwanted at his new club

"I seriously wonder if we actually need him - and I don’t think so."

Poor Victor Valdes.

From winning every major trophy possible, playing with Lionel Messi, Andreas Iniesta and Xavi at Barcelona, to warming the bench at Manchester United, being made an outcast and banned from the first-team by Louis van Gaal.

The Spanish goalkeeper’s United nightmare has been officially ended, with the club allowing him to join Belgian side Standard Liege on-loan until the end of the season.

The deal was only confirmed by his parent club this morning so Valdes, who still has to complete a medical, probably hasn’t even met his new teammates yet.

However, judging by these comments, he’s not particularly wanted at the club.

According to Standard Liege winger Mathieu Dossevi, the club don’t need need him because they already have a perfectly good goalkeeper.

“Of course, Valdes is a great player. But I seriously wonder if we actually need him – and I don’t think so.”

“We have a great goalkeeper in Guillaume Hubert. He is a fantastic keeper. Guillaume has been showing brilliant things in goal for our club and the players are all right behind him.”

“I think that is normal. Only thanks to Guillaume we have the chance to qualify for the Belgium Cup final. So why on earth would we want to replace him?”

Poor Victor. Do you think he regrets leaving Barcelona?
