Tim Means suffers gruesome ankle injury after brutal knockout punch

That was nasty

You know the leg injury is devastating when the brutal knockout punch is actually easier to watch

Tim Means required surgery after his defeat to Niko Price at UFC Wichita on Saturday night.

In an action-packed opening round, Means crumbled under the precision and power of a Price right hook and the full weight of Means’ body forced his ankle in the wrong direction.

‘The Dirty Bird’ understandably struggled to make it to his stool as he came to terms with his first defeat inside the distance in two years and he was rushed to hospital once he was helped out of the Octagon.

It was there that Means discovered just how bad his injury was, with the veteran welterweight confirming that he had broken both his leg and his ankle.

“I do my best to leave it all in the ring everytime out so the fans can get what they paid for,” Means wrote. “Wasn’t my night I have to get surgery broken tibia and ankle. Niko caught me with a punch and my foot got stuck under me.”

Means’ wife and fellow fighter Brenda Gonzales-Means shared a rather graphic photo of Means’ foot from his hospital bed, displaying just how severe the 35-year-old’s injury was.
