Two fights have already been made official for UFC Liverpool

Solid middleweight action

Darragh Murphy

It’s about time that a fighting city like Liverpool was rewarded with a UFC event.

Darren Till must have played a huge role in convincing the UFC to move their planned Dublin card to Merseyside on May 27.

Till is one of the most promising fighters in the entire organisation and the undefeated welterweight has been confirmed as one half of the evening’s main event, although an opponent has yet to be confirmed.

The UFC announced their first Liverpool card the day before the Octagon returns to London and they also confirmed two monster middleweight contests for the event, which will take place at the Echo Arena.

Birmingham fighter Tom Breese will hope to get back to winning ways when he makes his long-awaited middleweight debut against Australia’s Dan Kelly.

Breese hasn’t fought in almost two years, having tasted defeat for the first time in June 2016, but the fact that he will no longer have to drain his body to make 170lbs should benefit ‘The Octopus’.

But there will also be a meeting of Canada vs. USA as Elias Theodorou has agreed to take on Trevor Smith on the banks of the Mersey this May.

Plenty of Liverpool-based fighters like Paddy Pimblett, Chris Fishgold and Molly McCann are also expected to be given the opportunity to shine under the brightest lights in all of mixed martial arts.

UFC Liverpool fights:

Darren Till vs. TBA
Tom Breese vs. Dan Kelly
Elias Theodorou vs. Trevor Smith
