Transfer gossip: Kevin De Bruyne edges closer to a return to England

We need to talk about Kevin...

Could City be De Bruyne boys?

The Mirror report that Manchester City are closing in on a sensational £35million deal for Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

The player hasn’t ruled out a move that will make him a lot of money and nor has his agent, who will also make lots of cash from any deal. Funny that.

But City face stiff competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, even assuming that Wolfsburg want to sell.

Pellegrin and bear it

If De Bruyne does end up at the Etihad, it looks increasingly likely that he will be managed by incumbent boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The Guardian reckon that the Chilean is set to stay as Manchester City manager next season, despite a disappointing campaign.

Although the reprieve may be temporary, as one more season would coincide with the end of Pep Guardiola’s current deal at Bayern Munich.

Nathaniel to De-Clyne a move away

There had been fervent speculation over the last six months that Nathaniel Clyne was likely to leave Southampton this summer.

Old Trafford in particular was mooted as prospective destination for the England right-back, but all the talk may have been premature.

The Express report that Clyne may now be minded to sign a new deal with the Saints, rather than become a Devil at Manchester United.
