The staunch Evertonian took exception to a tweet sent by an account posing as the former Liverpool striker
It's derby day on Merseyside, and hours before kick-off at Goodison, Tony Bellew has become embroiled in a Twitter spat with an account pretending to be former Liverpool striker, Titi Camara.
The fake account had sent a tweet on Sunday morning referring to Everton as 'mongrels'. Seeing this, the former world cruiserweight champion, a staunch Evertonian, responded by comparing Camara to ex-Premier League referee, Uriah Rennie.

Quote tweeting the recently retired boxer's response, the bogus Camara account then made reference to Bellew's win over David Haye in 2017, when his opponent had ruptured his achilles. This prompted Bellew to remind him that he'd been a world champion in his sport.

Bellew then questioned claims that him likening Camara to Rennie had been racist, labelling Camara - or the person he thought was Camara - 'pathetic'.

The Camara account later replied to Bellew's earlier tweet about being a world champion, pointing out that he'd defended his title in a rematch against an ageing Haye before losing his final fight to Oleksandr Usyk last November.
In his reply, Bellew again used the opportunity to ask the Camara account what he'd actually achieved in his career that might compare to being a world champion...

Seemingly still oblivious to the fact he was responding to a parody account, Bellew sent another reply...

Exhausting stuff.
As for the game itself, Liverpool need to record a win over their local rivals to return to the top of the Premier League table. Manchester City's win away at Bournemouth - courtesy of Riyad Mahrez's goal - was enough to see them reclaim top spot ahead of the game at Goodison Park.
