Full circle

Tim Cahill’s career is set to come full circle.

Cahill has been tipped to return to the club at which he began his professional career as Millwall are preparing to announce the shock signing of the midfielder.

The Daily Telegraph report that the 38-year-old has already returned to England to discuss the terms of a contract with the Championship side for whom Cahill made 217 appearances between 1998 and 2004.

“He will be back at Millwall. Tim has already gone to England. It’s not a done-deal just yet but expect an announcement soon,” a source said.

Cahill left Melbourne City last month after complaints about his lack of playing time.

The former Everton man will need to maintain his match fitness in the coming months and prove his worth with the World Cup on the horizon and Cahill sees a return to Millwall as the perfect way to seal his place in the Socceroos squad.

Negotiations are still taking place and it’s understood that other clubs are in the running to bring Cahill on board immediately should the deal with Millwall fall through.

The Lions are currently sat in 16th spot in the Championship table but with Cahill’s heading prowess, we expect them to rocket up the ranks once the Aussie legend joins up.
