Football fans are been advised to avoid tickets from third-party sellers

In a desperate attempt to witness Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United next weekend, fans are shelling out huge sums for tickets to the historic event.

United is set to face Newcastle on their home turf at 3pm Saturday.

On unofficial re-sale websites, tickets have reached almost £700.

But it doesn’t stop there. The Times reports that ticket sales on platform Stubhub reached a staggering £2,500. However, it does appear that the platform has removed said advertisements.

Another platform, Live Football Tickets, is advertising 198 available tickets for the match, with prices ranging from £265 to £699.

United has told fans not to purchase tickets through third parties, advising that it may cause issues at admission and ultimately, cost fans a lot of money.

“We strongly discourage fans from purchasing tickets from unauthorised sources,’ a spokesman told the Times.

“These tickets are often invalid, leaving fans out of pocket, disappointed, and unable to see the game.”

Even Ronaldo is excited to return, reminiscing about the past and his respect for Sir Alex Furguson.

“Since I signed for Manchester [United] at 18, Sir Alex Ferguson was the key,” he told MUTV.

“He is like a father in football for me. He helped me a lot, he taught me many things and, of course, he had a big role because of the relationship that we had.

“We keep in touch all the time and he’s an unbelievable person. He was the main key for me to be in the position that I am, that I signed for Manchester United.”
